Don't get out as much after losing my main fishing partner of 35 years. Son prompted me out, and fishing was fairly good for winter walleye. It was sunny on/off and approx 52 deg's. We targeted the island in front of Boise Cascade mill. Fished in 25-34 feet of water and caught 11 walleye losing 3 others. We caught n released two teeners with the smallest of 11 fish caught being 19". Not bad fishing for this time of year. FYI for those who don't know, utilizing access via Casey's pond is best and shortest access to Wallula area walleye fishing thru this shallow bay....plenty good enough to travel via prop propulsion.
An added bonus to this fishery is the upcoming post spawn walleye season. Seems like every main river walleye migrates to the Bay Area just outside Casey's pond to fatten up post spawn. For anyone wanting to stock up on walleye, suggest fishing this shallow bay of Columbia just outside of Casey's pond! Upon entering bay, just follow along the train tracks in 10 ft of water for lights out fishing from mid April to Mid May. It used to be "our" gem, and hope it may yield the same for others. Coming up soon......enjoy!
