My wife and I launched at Lincoln like we always due and headed for the whitestone area. While trolling along and taken in all the wildlife that Roosevelt has to offer. I noticed two large white floating steel balls like what is used at the boat launches. As we got closer I could see logs connected together between the balls to keep boats out of a popular camping and fishing bay. looking at the the map the best name I could come up with is redford canyon . Probably 2 miles or so down river from whitestone theres a log house on the reservation side close to the bay. The bay I am talking about is the larger of the two. Im really interested in why and who has done this. And are there plans of taking away any other areas.

I heard it was closed off to protect trout spawning. Redbands I think. Don't know any more than that.

YeaI saw that other day and wondered the same thing. The area your talking about is called the goat farm. At least that is what use locals have been calling it for years. The big rock before that is called haystack rock. Thanks for the report.

I talked to a local guy down on the river and I was told that they put those up to keep people out because there was way to much trash being left buy some of the people who fish off the bank there. We as sportsmen need to be sure to pack everything out so things like this don't happen. I hope they reopen that bay latter so we all can fish it. Thanks for the report, Terry

Yes that is Redford Bay and the tribe is closing it off to boat traffic because of wave erosion. They put logs at the high water mark about 15 years ago and they are all covered up now. There are 3 bays they are doing this to for the same reason. I also was told they are doing it because they can:)
