Went fishing Friday night at the Colville Flats right at the mouth of the Colville River again. Started early around 3:30PM just to be outside in the fresh air. Didn't expect bites that early in the afternoon but it was better than sitting around the house watching TV. Had a few co-workers meet me down there right as it started getting dark. They ended up landing a 16" rainbow using a worm and mallow around 6PM. At 6:45PM I had finally got our first bite and landed a 24" Burbot. That'd be all she wrote for the night though. Rain started coming in around 10 and that's when we called it quits. I still haven't figured these fish out yet. There never seems to be consistency with them. I've had bites start as early as 6PM and sometimes as late as 10 or 11PM. I did buy an LED light attachment called "Line Light" that I was going to try this weekend. I'll have a picture attached of it. Anyone know when they start spawning in Lake Roosevelt? I've been doing some reading about these Burbot to try and figure em out but most of the articles I run into are covering Lakes and not Lake Roosevelt specifically. Any tips are greatly appreciated. All in all I've been having a blast going after these fish. I did cook one up last week for the first time and boy oh boy are they good. Nice texture and a good sweet flavor to them. I'll take it over any other freshwater fish any day.
