Launched @ Kettle Falls @ 9am and fished until 3:30pm. Ran south to the Colville Flats, trolled a triangle pattern in and out of the confluence. Water Temp was 38* inside and 38.4* outside. No other vehicles or boats in sight. The water was calm and flat with variable breezes now and then. Sometimes it was overcast, other times it was misty. Perfect weather for fishing.
Ran every colour of mini-squid in the box. Short, long, deep, and shallow. Also tried a small Abe & Al flasher in deeper water.
Perfect day! No runs, no hits, no errors! The fish had lock jaw, but they were there on sonar between 15' and 20'.
I've figured out the camera so next time there will be photos!
Keep yur tip up!

My January shore fishing has been a complete drought as well for the Rainbows. I can't seem to figure it out. Hope it turns around soon though.

First Light I feel your pain. The last two trips have been a goose egg for me also. I have fished from Gifford to Kettle Falls with no fish. I have tried everything in the tackle box with no luck. January fishing can be hit or miss I guess.
