Week long shop shutdown at work for the holidays prompted me to get some fishing in this week. Got out on the beach around 8:30 this morning at our normal spot near Daisy. Couple of my buddies got there about an hour earlier but didn't have any fish on the stringer yet but they did have a nice fire going which was nice cause it was about 18 degrees outside. I set one of my poles up with an orange float with garlic powerbait that would set about 16" off the bottom. My other I threw a yellow-orange polka dotted spoon with a touch of powerbait and used that as my shore jig set up. Within my 4th cast I had my first rainbow on but that one would come loose right at the bank and got away. After a few more casts my treble hook fell off the spoon (that spoon had to be over 10 years old now) so I tied a silver and blue spoon on and kept fishing. About 20 min later I had another on but this one made it to the stringer. After that things died down for about 1 1/2 hrs till my bottom set up on my other pole just about took off into the water. Luckily I grabbed it in time to reel my second for the day. By 1 o'clock we decided that the fish bite wasn't constant enough to keep us there all day. Aside from my 2 only one other person caught a fish. I think that attributed to my friends chatting around the fire instead of keeping busy with the fishing though. Lol. Hope to be back out there tomorrow morn and hope the bite is on.
