Headed over to E-WA to give the winter fishery at Roosevelt a try and wasn't disappointed!
Arrived at 8:30 to temps in the low teens, a little ice fog and a bit of wind. Launched from 7 Bays and headed SW across the river.
Started about 1/2 mile West of the point and worked downriver about 1-1/2 miles. Zig zaged both close in to shore and further away. Never more than 100 yds offshore. Caught fish going both east and west. Most were caught further off shore in 150'+ FOW.
Fished in 80'-240' FOW, speed was 1.6-2.0mph, and the water temp was just over 49.
Rod #1 - DR: Purple/Pink/Glitter 2" squid w/ pink smile blade, 14" behind purple splatter/silver dodger, 15'-20' deep.
Rod #2 - Lead Line: Perch Rapala behind 50' of Floro leader, out 2-1/2 colors.
Never switched lures...didn't have to! No more than 15 minutes without a hit.
Only spent about 4 hours on the water, but caught plenty of fish. Boated a Kokanee that was pushed 3lbs and solid 24" RB. Other "smaller" RB's from 16" to 22". The tally was C&R 5 RB, 2 Kokes & lost 3 other fish.
A very special thanks to the members that were kind enough to share their knowledge. It helped me have a great day and a very memorable experience. Another trip over is already in the works!
