Chased after some Chinook with NWFR Inland Northwest Sponsor, The General Store Spokane's crew, and NWFR Guide Sponsor Don Talbot Wednesday. The weather was ideal. We were at the launch just after 6 am. Don noticed the water was high for the morning.

Started out with Superbaits and scored a jack quickly then it got quiet. I didn't see many hook ups anywhere...from the launch, Coyoye Rapids to the Punchbowl. Don felt we needed to change tactics - fish a little different than he did during his trip with NWFR in September. We switched off the downriggers to 4 rods with divers and eggs. Some with spin n glo's, other custom offerings Don put together. "We're experimenting!" he said.

The eggs worked and we boated three more Kings. All running 12 lbs plus. The big one was probably pushing twenty. Broke off one that was BIG! Fish really seemed to get active after 11 am. For the day we went 4 for 8, had a great time and I know we all had a good time with Don. We got the rods in our hands, handled the gear, baited up. Great education.

On the way home, the General Store staffers felt like they learned so much from Don that they could go out an dget it done!
