Decided to take my wife out to my old stomping grounds lake Shannon today. The boat launch was reopened and the roads up there were in much better repair then I have ever seen them. We fished from shore, when I was younger my grandfather would go to Shannon and catch his limit with in an hour of having arrived, taking my wife to his old spot seemed like a good idea. We weren't there five minutes when BANG! she had a hit on her first cast, getting it in it turned out to be a nice fat 10" rainbow. Hopeful that this was a good omen we sat there for more then 6 hours... unfortunaly her first cast landed the only trout of the day, we did catch dozens of "bullheads" (The Sculpin, not the catfish) and a couple of suckers, all of which went back into the lake. all in all an enjoyable day at the lake, but not the fishing experience that I was shooting for... tomorrow we go to a lake down around where she is from (Pierce County) to see if we have better luck.
