Epic day all alone at Vernita. I guided Darin and Christine Randall and their two children on a trip of a lifetime. We got down to Vernita at 6am and the water was 15 feet lower than normal. I wasn't sure if I could launch. We managed to get the boat in and decided to wiggle our way through the nasty bar up river about 5 miles to get to the hatchery. We made it.

I mixed up some extremely potent garlic tuna the night before to ambush a fish or two. We didn't plan on over filling my cooler. We loaded up a scent bomb and had a pro troll flasher just in front just like the article in Northwest Sportsman mag this month. I picked out an exclusive Super Bait Cut Plug only sold to Hooked on Toys in 2015 called Capital Hill. It is a Seahawk with a pink front and back.

We put the downrigger down 18 feet in 24 feet of water and the rest is history. We landed the 31 lb fish at about 8 am and the the 15 lb fish at 7am. The 40 lb fish came at another location that I am not willing to share at this time. All in all it is time to Scent Bomb Vernita with Super Baits.

TICA has a 10' tyee salmon trolling rod for big fish like these. It worked great! I have been trying out the TICA STRIPPER reeels for salmon and they are working awsome. I couldn't be happier with this type of result.
