Got in line at 04:00. Boat in the water at 05:10!!! We scratched out fish from between the other 300-350 boats. McFisherson 13 boated 4 and I boated 3. We fished hard and long to get what we got. If it were not for an explosive 10 minute period in the afternoon I would have come home with only 1 fish. I had just changed it up for the umpteenth time. I boat 2 fish and missed a 3rd in that amount of time. I had been about four hours without a bump.
I had my blood pressure checked when a cavalier fellow decided to cut in line just before the ramp!!!Having started in line back at the stop sign at the high school an hour before, I had to give him a piece of my mind. I did my best to humiliate him in front of his 10-12 year old. He told me it was a merging intersection. I told him a few things that can't be posted on this site. I also told him this was no way to be raising the next generation of sportsman and he should be ashamed of himself. So, after that I did my best to recover, settle in and catch some Socks. It was a long day and if not for the burst of action in the afternoon I'd have rated it a 2 star day. There are fish to be had. But, patience getting on and off the water & while dancing with all the other boats is needed for this fishery. Sorry no pics. Mark took them all.

I feel your pain, the guy was a jerk to say the least. If he acts like that at the launch you can bet that he is a jerk on the water also, cutting across right in front of other boats or following behind another boat right on top of their lines and so forth. We fished the pool last year, my wife was fighting a real nice King when these idiots trolled right across behind us so close the her fish got hung up in their down rigger line. We headed in loaded the boat and we will never fish there again. Lake Wenatchee opens soon and I am really hoping that between Brewster pool having so many fish and being a humpy year on the coast that there won't be a zillion people fighting to get a boat in and out of there this year.

Hey hewesbob, I did my best not to let one bad apple spoil the whole box. But, with that many boats out on the water, it does take its toll. As for Lake Wenatchee, I've not read it in print, but, what I've heard is not good. I talked with a guide that told me it may not open. Hopefully the WDFW will not mess with it.

It's listed in the new 2015 regs as opening the 18th of July. I was surprised its in the regs book, we usually have to wait for an announcement from the state about two days before they open it

Hey hewesbob, I agree, it is in the Regs. I'm hoping my information is incorrect. Like I said, "This was word of mouth, not print." I heard they were not going to allow it to open. I hope what I heard was wrong.

I was there this weekend also with the wind and thunder friday nite and the rain saturday it was a tough weekend to fish the combat fishing makes it very stressful we usually launch the boat in the evening and then just keep it in that little bay by the street campers never have had a problem.. we managed 4 fish for a couple days they are nice fish this yr..

Lake Wenatchee will not open until there are roughly 23,000 fish over tumwater dam in Leavenworth. As of today, only 5,000 fish have come over. The date in the regs is July 18th to open, but it is closed until the fish pass over the dam. It's frustrating, I know, but the Wenatchee river has also been very warm this summer and the fish have not moved into the Wenatchee from the Columbia. Hopefully we get some rain and cooler temps to help the fish move up river.

Hey Aaronwisemore, where did you get your information? I am not one to want to spread rumors. I certainly remember that from years past. But, as for this year, I had not been able to see it in print. Thank you in advance for your response.

That information is straight from WDFW it's the same thing every year. Lake Wenatchee doesn't open until the escapement of fish is met at tumwater dam.

I also have heard lake Wenatchee probably will not open this year. Dead fish in the river and too warm. See the passage over the tumwater dam in the link. http://www.cbr.washington.edu/dart/wrapper?type=php&fname=adultdaily_1436899674_546.php

We have floated the Wenatchee river a few times in the last couple weeks and the water level is equal past years on Labor Day. Not good for fish passage this year. ??

Expect to see something from wdfw by tomorrow.

Hey Aaronwisemore , I had not read that this year. Thank you.
Hey kokanee1 , Thanks for the link. It does not look good. I wood rather forego fishing this year for the future. Looks like I'm going to have to hit Banks for Walleye.

Glad to see you got some, AFK! Hope one or two of my tricks paid off for you. Disappointing news about Lake Wenatchee but I absolutely agree that conservation of the resource comes first. Hopefully fall rains will come early and supply enough water for fish passage.

Good luck and tight lines!

Hey walleyes, I'm hoping the same. Like Dawg put it, "Conservation of the resource first.
Hey Dawg, I've been out fished by others on multiple trips now. But, my turn will come. And, yes your tips and tricks have helped. Thank you again!
