The kokanee fishing at Lake Roosevelt continues to be very good. I did have to give it a 4 due to the fact that all the fish are wild kokanee and you can keep just 2 wild kokanee on Lake Roosevelt.
These fish are fat and healthy. We had 4 native kokanee in 25 minutes this morning.
Fished in the Swawilla Basin area with the Downriggers down at 50-55 feet in 180-220 feet of water. The fish came on a Mack's Lure Cha Cha Kokanee Squidders on a 14 inch leader behind a Double D Dodger. Speed was 1.6-1.8 mph.
Still have some days open in July if you want to get in on the kokanee and rainbow fishing at Lake Roosevelt.

Thank you for the report, Nice looking Kokanee, if you don't mind my asking how do you tell if they are wild fish or not. I'm new to kokanee fishing and have only caught a few out of a lake and was curious how you can tell the difference. Thanks for the pictures and report.
Truly wild anadromous fish have an adipose fin just forward of the tail clearly visible in the attached pics. Hatchery raised trout and kokanee are supposed to be fin clipped, but it doesn't always happen. There were several thousand hatchery reared kokanee from ID released in Roosevelt earlier this spring and none were fin clipped. Even though they are not native fish, the "no more than 2 with intact adipose fin" rule for Lake Roosevelt still applies because there is no way for anglers to differentiate the hatchery raised kokanee from native stock.
Story about the ID kokanee in Lake Roosevelt here - http://www.spokesman.com/outdoors/stories/2015/mar/19/rich-landers-wild-kokanee-drive-the-limit-at-lake/ Rich Landers got it wrong on retention limit, the regs state 6 kokanee, but no more than 2 with intact adipose fin.
Thank you hewesfisher, you answered my question and then some. This is a great site for new fisherman like myself looking for information to hopefully make myself a better and more informative person and people like yourself help make that possible. I appreciate you taking the time and effort to help me and others like me to become better fisherman. Thank you and look forward to trying this area in the future.
