I had a chance to head out fishing with a very nice fella I meet at a Christmas party, he usually fishes lakes around Spokane, bass, Muskie, walleye. he had not done much winter fishing and had not been to Roosevelt before.
we left the valley about 6: and heading out into the fog. launched at Lincoln around 8: we headed up to sterling point to put lines in the water. he set up with a wedding ring and well I don't remember what the other pole had on it. I just put out my orange fly on 3 colors of lead. fishing was definitely slower Sunday than it had been on other trips. no fish on till we rounded the corner and went past the first point. the mono lines with some lead did not seem to be producing so he added a flasher to both and put on a green fly. that seemed to produce a few for him then.. with 2/3rds of a limit by a little before eleven we headed on down to white stone, picked up a couple more but still slow, we put on the bottom bouncers and drug the sand down past the rocks, did not produce and walleye, but we did pick up the rest of our trout limit doing that.
done by 1:30, the lead and orange fly still produced the best.
we had two carryovers, one 19" and one 18".
a nice day.

Thanks for the report. With everybody reporting it sounds like the bite might be moving down river a bit. Talked to a local that was out yesterday and did well at the goat farm Nice sunny day so maybe they were hitting all over.

Gary , nice to hear you got out again, this time with someone, and not alone. I agree with widebear that the bite might have moved down river a bit. I just talked to brother Ron and we were talking maybe Keller Ferry next time and go past the Sanpoil to our spot we like there. Sounds like you might have a new person to fish Roosevelt . It is always good to turn someone on to new fishing areas. thanks for the report. Tight Lines----Terry

I agree with Terry, good to hear you got out again, and takeing home some fish. We were out about two weeds ago and fished off shore at Fort Spokane, (to lazy to drag out boats ) and came home empty with only one bite for the three of us. We didn't stay to long as it was cold and no one else around was catching either. Thats a tough way to fish for us old boys anymore, we need our warm comfortable boats. We agreed that day to cross shore fishing off our bucket list. Take care my friend, and say hello to group at work. Ron.

agreed, I was thinking before we left the launch that things might go better further down.
Two Brothers and #1, I think even dragging out the starcraft would be easier than sitting in the cold on the sand. I was wondering if you two were around or off enjoying retirement someplace warm?? we need to get together sometime before the spring thing, I miss the constant harassment..

Widebear or anyone else who knows where, can you give me directions on how to get to the Goat Farm? Please.
