I decided I needed a mental health day yesterday, I headed to the storage unit to get the boat instead of work.
I went to the Lincoln launch, did not get there till 8:ish. nobody else there. seems the water was up some from the last time out. the wind was up some which made the launch fun by my self. I headed down to sterling point.
I got lines in the water around 9: trolled for 1/2 hr before the first fish. a nice 15 incher.
second fish a short time later, made the old Penn real sing, I cranked down the drag some and still this thing pull line. got him in the boat a nice "just short of" 21 (20 3/4) incher. the next was another 15, then the surface line goes off, I thought I had let myself get blown to close to some rocks but it turned out to be the other carryover.
one more with the lead and back to the launch about 10:30.
using the home made flys, orange and red on both lines. (3 week old worms that still looked good and did not seem to scare off any fish. a very relaxing day. just a few hours that made me feel like I had a vacation..
I am really enjoying the new Hand me down boat, the prickly Pair.

Gary-- those arre some nice looking fish you got there. Were you surprised how hard these fish are pulling? Once we get the fish in and you pull your line out to re set its unbelievable how tight your drag is, but if you loosen it up during the fight you cannot bring them in, fun stuff for sure. As you probably read Terry my son Dean and I were at Lincoln last Thursday and the wind was bad specially when loading the boat back up. It was all they could do to hold the boat as I went and got the trailer. On good note though the fishing was great . As I have mentioned this before to you I'm going to say it again, you shouldn't be down there by your self, give me a call. ( TB # 1 ) Ron.

Nice fish for sure! I don't bother driving to Lincoln as it is a short boat ride from Seven bays and most of the time the launch is protected. That said there can be some big waves out in front of Seven Bays if the wind is blowing out of the SW. I'll second the thought of not going by yourself in the winter. If you do be sure to wear a life jacket and hook up the kill switch when you are running. As for me I make it a practice not to go alone in the winter; simply too risky and I want to live to fish another day.

Hope I didn't sound like I was preaching I just really care about the safety of our fellow fishermen - Alan

Ron; I did not make the decision to go till 5:30AM.. I did not think it a good idea to call you at that hour, though I did think about it.
those carry overs did surprise me as to how hard they pulled. the first one started turning in the net just as I reached with the forceps to take the hook out, it wound up the fly between the trailer hook and brook it off. it still worked to catch two more fish however.
I had noticed the last time I was out that some of the other boats around me were not messing around reeling in and they seemed to be netting most fish they got on.
Alan; "Good Preaching", thanks for the Safety reminder, sometimes I need some alone time, (from the long days I used to spend on a tractor), being in a boat, fishing is my "tractor time" now. (that I have to work around people).

elderhappy - Tractor time is good. I get mine while driving between clients or potential clients. Lots of times I don't even have the radio on; it interrupts the brain waveds in the old grey matter!
I do sometimes fish alone, but never in winter.
Merry Christmas - Alan
