First trip this fall to Roosevelt for me after recovering and doing well from the surgery I had. Those fish were just calling to be caught!
One of the nice things about fall/winter fishing at Roosevelt is you don't have to be there at the crack of dawn to catch fish. It was below freezing when I left home so had to scrape frost off the windows of the truck for the first time this fall. The boat was all snug in the barn waiting and anxious to go; the old Starcraft just loves to fish!
Met friend Mark in town and we were greeted at Ft Spokane by four or five people getting ready to launch. There were already 15 empty trailers in the parking lot. Got our boat ready to go and fired up the heater.....gotta love a top and heat when it's 32 with a breeze on the water! Poles in at 9:00.
It took a whole 15 minutes to get the first fish while trolling three colors of leaded line with a Kekeda perch fly ( Thanks Dave, https://www.etsy.com/listing/174537991/5-kekeda-tackle-trolling-flies ). Trolling 2.2 to 2.5 MPH worked the best. The Kekeda was the winner for the day. Caught a fish or two on a Rapala.
We caught fish steadily, lost some and boated our limit by 1:00PM. The biggest was a beautiful 18 incher and the others were the fall 15" that are absolute toads. They have been eating well! The meat is bright red and they are awesome table fare. The second picture is the 18" butterfly filleted ready to go on the pellet smoker grill for dinner. Did I say Yum?
Tight lines everybody - Alan
