I fished the Brewster pool 7/21 & 7/22. I managed to scratch out a limit of Sockeye both days. I used the typical chrome smile blade in front of orange or pink hootchie tipped with shrimp of matching color.I used leader length of 12-16'' behind either a size 1 or 0 chrome or 50/50 dodger. Both days after limiting on sockeye I switched over to Kings. Both days I was rewarded with a fish with the dreaded extra FIN! One was 4/5 pounds. The other was in the upper teens. I saw a few others released. It is nice to feel like you are on top of your game for a little while anyhow. It was very depressing driving through Pateros and seeing all the devastation. Fishing in the smoke was not that nice either. But, who knows, with the flash floods and cooler water coming down the Okanogan, those fish could jet upstream.

I was in Wenatchee over the weekend, we were heading to fish lake but the road was closed, so we fished the Columbia below Rocky Reach Dam. We didn't try to go up there since the smoke was bad even down in Wenatchee most of the weekend and had to go home on Monday. We went on tour of dam and the fish ladders, there were a lot of chinook and sockeye coming through. We saw some large schools below the dam so fishing should be good for awhile yet.

Hey FishinMarine, the fish counts are good! And you are right it should last a while.

Nice job. SO, how are the 'pre-smoked' fish? ;-)

Hey Dawg, some of the fish still have a few scales & the meat is bright red. As for flavor, I've not added any smoke to them yet!!

Sounds like you hit it just in time afk!! Cooler weather and LOTS of rain in the okanogan last Wednesday/Thursday DID push fish upriver. I fished the Brewster pool Thursday evening and Friday morning without a hook up. Lots of other boats and nobody was pulling in fish. I think I saw 3 landed in the 16 hours I was out. Maybe this warmer weather coming will pile them up at the mouth again? We'll see.
