Glenn and I headed to Rufus Woods today and it was worth the trip from Spokane. We were on the water by 0515 and I caught a 20 inch eye on the first cast, so great start to the day. We fished jigs and blade baits till 1200 and the total catch was 17 eyes. We kept a limit of 10, all between 20-21 inches. Out of the 7 we released 5 were over 22 inches and one was 31.5 inches and 12 lbs. Glenn caught her on a jig, she was already spawned out so if she was still full of eggs she would have easily been at least 14 lbs. I am not going to say exactly where we were but if you fish Rufus for eyes it is not hard to figure out where to go. All in all a great day and I will have fresh Walleye fillets to grill up for my daughter who will be visiting today from Seattle.
Mark
P.S. We also caught 3 15-17 inch bows (cold water carp)
Hi CCTMark Have not fished Rufus before so one question. Approximately how far far past Coulee are you launching ? Want to go out wednesday and are unable to launch from Porcupine Bay . Anyway going to plan B
Jigs and blade baits should do the trick and you really don't need to fish extremely deep either 20-30 ft should do it.
