Went out Porcupine Bay with Glenn and Nate in Glenn's Lund. The launch will be closed tomorrow due to low water but we were able to launch on Saturday. The lake is down about 43 ft so if you go upriver from Porky you better know where your going. We saw one boat run aground and it sounded expensive. Your GPS may show you the center of the river channel but that isn't necessarily the deepest part of the channel so be careful. We worked the river from Porky up to buoy 5 targeting any back eddies we could find, the current is all river from buoy 2 up so the main current is hard to fish. We caught most of our fish shallow so don't be afraid to pitch a jig into 5 ft of water. Red or black jig heads with a 5 inch worm worked best, we had to vary colors throughout the day as no one color worked best. The tally for the day was 40 eyes and 7 smallies. The largest eye was 30 inches and 10 lbs, I caught her jigging in 22 ft of water just down river from a small hump. Hopefully she has a good spawn this year that will help thwart the plans of the knuckleheads who want to rid the river of the eyes. We will probably try getting back up river next weekend if Glenn isn't too afraid of the shallow water. We talked with a few other fishermen when we pulled out and most of them went down river from the launch with very little luck. The spawn is near so the big girls are going upriver, good luck but watch your depth.
