First trip to Rufus Woods and first report on this site. Thanks for all the other Rufus Woods reports that got me started! Fished the lower end of the lake Saturday afternoon (the 22nd) , all day Sunday and Monday morning before heading back west of the mountains. Gave it a 3 because the first half of the trip we caught one 18 incher (a 1), second half caught about 20, the biggest one close to 9lbs (a 5!). We figured out that in the cold water, 36 degrees, fish were where the shallow water extended out from shore a ways, 5 or 6 feet deep with full sun on the water. Fish seemed to be cruising along the shore and holding in these spots, water was a little warmer, more bugs and snails.
Caught fish trolling plugs, flies, jigs below floats and old fashioned worm fishing. Biggest one caught on a small piece of worm right on the bottom, our snail imitation, while we pulled up on shore for lunch.
Also we lost the boat plug the first night out but luckily another fisherman at the hotel had an extra he gave us Sunday morning. Probably saved us a drive to Chelan. Thanks!
