First post for me- always get great info so I decided to contribute.
Fished solo Thursday on the Columbia Reach. with in-line flashers and brad's superbait, drop with a 6 oz cannon ball. Switched colors all week to test what was working, bright colors worked best (any silver/chrome style).
First 15 minutes, fish on, popped off (thanks barbless). Five minutes later, fish on, get it to the boat and does a funky roll and off it swims. 15 minutes later, rod gets slammed and fish off right as my hand touches the rod.
My pride was really low after the guy next to me reels in a double by himself.
As soon as he nets the second fish, my rod starts dancing. Nice little fight and adult number one is tagged (barely an adult). Get back in the spot and throw out- bam -fish on. Swims to the boat and its a decent nate. I put back out and 15 minutes later I get a mini-jack nate.
The next hour was a clinic by the boat next to me- three fish caught and two are natives. After he left for work, I jumped in his spot and within seconds (still moving fast from throttling forward) rod doubles over. Fish is peeling line and fighting tough and pops off.I leave my second rod out when fighting a fish and just decide to throttle forward. Before I can put my second rod out, the one left out doubles hard.
To keep the fight short- I found myself a quarter mile down stream with this 20 lb chubby.
We were the only two boats out.
