Hit Roosevelt at Keller Ferry area Saturday. Ran downriggers to 40 and 50 feet with sling blades, smile blade spinners, tipped with red corn and power wigglers. Surface rods ran a rainbow flicker shad and spinner with nightcrawler, about 100 feet back. 5 minutes in, rod pops off downrigger. 12 inch RBT, let go to grow. Next fish hit the surface spinner, 12 inch RBT. Long dry spell, next fish hit flicker shad. Fish screamed the drag, jumped and long distance release. Looked to be about the same size. Long dry spell, one more pops the downrigger, 8 inch RBT.

Another long dry spell, too many of those today. I was not paying attention when dad hollers at me, flicker shad goes off and drag is really screaming. I grab the pole and hang on. about 140 feet behind the boat a large silver rocket shoots 3-4 feet in the air and shakes the hook. Looked to be around 4 pounds, not sure if it was a rainbow or a kokanee, too far away to ID. Tried the Sanpoil arm for walleye but had no luck at all. Hate the road down in there, I could see my own taillights on a couple corners!

That large silver rocket was probably a nice kokanee. In my experience at Roosevelt, the rainbows rarely ever leave the water unless they're in the 3 1/2 - 4lb range, but the kokanee almost always do, especially the big ones. Have always wondered what the road is like to Keller Ferry launch, guess you answered that question for me. Thanks for the report!

Go deeper and you will get out of the small net pen fish. Silvers are hot down deeper. Clipped ones are few and far between but 3 to 5 lb kok's are plenty when you find them. Been hitting it 3 to 4 times a week and limits each day. However, usually only 2's the limit. Yesterday had 1 clipped and 4 un-clipped 3 to 5 lbs.
