Launched out of Ft Spokane at 0600 and headed upriver. My cohort in crime Glenn and I fished some of the main river points south of hunters. We were looking for points with mudlines. I hate to admit it but this time of year the knucklehead water skiers and jet skiers are actually helping us out. All of the waves they create end up causing some major mudlines, we use this to our advantage. On Saturday we were able to catch 49 eyes off of these muddy points using mainly jigs with an occasional slow death rig added in. Most of the eyes were caught in less that 20' of water on the edge of the weedbeds. Average size was a perfect eating size of 16" with the largest a fat 19". We kept a limit and threw back the rest. Additionally we caught 6 smallies, mostly drop shotting half a crawler and 5 trout using the same method, all were released. All in all a great day on Roosevelt especially the very light wind, makes boat driving much easier.
