First Walleye!!!

My daughter and I were lucky enough to get out on the river and give Walleye fishing a try. I knew from talking from a friend that the river can and does produce some great fishing opportunities for Walleye. We launched our boat at the south side of Beebe Bridge and fished the drop off at the mouth the Chelan River. After fishing without a bite for about an hour, my beautiful little girl decided she wanted to try a more pretty lure. I rolled my eye and swapped her "boring" lure for a "pretty' one. Five minutes later she said...DAD!!! I thought she had snagged on the bottom so I asked her for her pole...that's when I knew she was in for some fun. About 5 minutes later she landed this 27 1/2" slob right into the net. Such a proud papa moment.

We were using bottom walkers with a spinner and night crawlers. One other boat on the river with us and they had 3 in.

For a first Walleye that thing is huge! Both of those are really nice fish - Are you going to keep trying for Walleye now?!

Needless to say we are 'HOOK'D"...yeah we will be back after them this weekend. Best part about it was after years and years of eating salmon, it was a delicious change. A lite beer batter and 4-5 minutes in the fryer and it was fantastic.
