Launched my boat at about 6 AM from Porcupine Bay and headed upriver towards buoy 5. I had my buddy Jay with me and we had a very good day drifting and jigging certain parts of the river. Our total catch for the day was about 50 eyes, we kept 14 with the largest at 21 in and the smallest at 16 in, most averaged 17-18 in long. Most of the ones we let go were 13-15 in long. Jigging was the ticket with a dark colored jig head and body the most productive, think dark watermelon, dark brown or june bug. The closer you get to buoy 5 the stronger the current is, so heavy jigs are in order to maintain contact with the bottom. The most productive depth was 18-24 ft and a lot of the fish were near the channel sides, both sides of the channel were equally as productive.
