My buddy and I put the boat in at upper launch around 10 am. then took our 5 minute boat ride to the upper pens. We anchored in 4 different places for the 3 hours we were there and had only 2 bites although we could see lots of fish on the finder. We threw out hatchery formula bait and 6 different colors of power bait with no luck.I put on a black wolley buger and had 1 hit. Then switched to a black panther martin and had another hit.The weather was very good a few clouds and 60 degree out with little wind. The water temp averaged right at 43.2 degree all around the area.We the picked up anchor and proceded down river to the lower pens ( about 10 miles ).There was 3 other boats at the pens when we arrived. We tied up to the rope and started all over again, tried all the same stuff as before. My buddy tried using corn powerbait and eventually caught 2 the biggest being around 18 inches and 2 pounds.I had 1 on but lost it at the boat and another for about 30 seconds. The weather was still fantastic and water temp at 43 degree. The people in the other boats were doing about the same as us.The fish were all around the 16 to 18 inch range and about 2 pounds. All together we saw about 11 fish caught including our 2. Was a slow day but the weather was good and we had a great time.headed down again next week on thursday will let you know how we do.. Till then bent rods and great times.
