I was the first one to launch out of Crescent Bay Saturday morning(7:15). The wind was putting small white caps on the chop. I feared I would not last long out there in my 14' Livingston. I picked up 2 fish in the first hour. I caught them on pink & red K-flies behind 3/0,4/0 dodgers long lined 150-200Ft back. For the next 7 hours I tried multiple color combos. I tried Rapalas, wedding rings & crawler tipped flies. Nothing more!
The wind would come and go as did the sun & clouds. Lots of people fishing from the shore at C.B. & Spring Canyon. They were having a slow go of it also. The fish checker said she had not checked any body with more than 2 fish.
I watched this group of ice fishers on Banks lake for about 5 minutes. 16 fishermen, 2 poles each x 5 = 160 Min. of fishing without a bite. So, I guess I shouldn't feel bad.
If you should see this camo Livingston on the water give a shout!

Sounds like a successful trip even with the slow bite. Someday I'll work up enough courage to try Rossie. some very nice rainbows coming out of that body of water. Thanks for the report and pics. Hope to see the camo livingston out there.

I experienced the same on my outing 2/14. Current high pressure and high water levels are not producing good trout fishing. Reservoir levels will be dropping this week, and there's supposed to be some changing weather as well, both of which should improve fishing. We'll be there for the weekend, so hope to see better catching by then. Thanks for the report. :-)

Hey Lewis, no courage needed. One of these times when you fish the upper pens from Seatons Grove stop in at Crescent Bay on the return. One of those days when ya catch a couple early in the day that are just too big to release. Then compliment your Rufus limit with 3 more from Rossie! Sounds easy doesn't it!

Hey hewesfisher, I read your report & thought how can those fish do that to ya. Bang, bang first thing and then get lock jaw for the rest of the day! Best of luck to you next weekend. I'm lookin' forward to your report!

afk, wouldn't you be 3 fish over your daily limit? If doing what you have suggested? Visiting Roofus for the 2 fish "daily" trout limit on that body of water. Then catching 3 trout at Roosevelt, for a total of a 5 fish limit!. Your asking for trouble. Even if changing the order, by catching 3 at Roosevelt, then two at Rufus. That also, would be Illegal.

To be legal, both bodies of water fished in the same day for trout. Would need to have a 5 fish daily limit. Or, after limiting on trout at Roofus, a day must laps before fishing for trout at Roosevelt.

I know Louise is to smart to try the Rufus, then off to Roosevelt, ploy. But others might try it. Thinking it is OKAY!

Now, a limit of Rufus trout. Then, catching some of those Roosevelt burbot in the same day. Now, your talking fishing legal, and a variety of good eats!

Hey MotoBoat, they are 2 separate fisheries as I see it. I wouldn't encourage anybody to break the law nor do so myself. Can anybody else chime in?

this might help: From WAC 220-56-511 Trout (except Eastern brook trout) 5 from lakes, ponds and reservoirs. No size restriction.
2 from rivers, streams, and beaver ponds. 8-inch minimum size.
The daily trout limit is 5 trout, regardless of origin, of which not more than 2 may be steelhead.

Hey motoboat, I finally checked with WDFW & they told me there is nothing wrong with my plan. 5 trout total. Conversely, a warden wouldn't be able to separate out 3 from Roosie and then 2 from Rufus.
And , I like the idea of Burbot. There are a lot of things that are improved upon these days but, there are still only 24Hrs. in one day.

I meant to follow up by calling the Mill Creek office for verification. But got distracted. For some reason. I thought this subject had been discussed before. From that discussion, I thought once one daily trout limit was reached. All Trout fishing ended for that angler for the day. That is why I stated what I did. Glad you did follow up. Now I would feel confident in doing as you had suggested. Although, I feel one could call the game dept, asking for clerifiaction, and receive two different answers. My apologies to you afk.

Hey MotoBoat, no apology needed. I'd much rather get checked/questioned here than on the water!LOL And, I too do agree one could get two different answers/interpretations of the law. Tight lines to ya'.
