Launched out of Porcupine on saturday with Glenn and Tim in Glenn's boat. Started jigging the flat near blue crick. We caught 4 small 15-16" eaters all in 38-45' of water. Headed across the river to try near the red house with no action what-so-ever. Only saw one or two other boats net Walleyes of a similar size. Decided to get out Burbot on and headed up to bouy 5. Fished the deep hole just down river from the base of the buoy 5 spit. We caught 14 in about 45 minutes and missed a bunch more. We were one short of our limit only because once the livewell was full, no one wanted to stick their hand in and count those slimy buggers. Most were in the 3-4lb range. We also tried the deep hole just above buoy 5 with no action at all. Headed back down to Porcupine Bay to see if the bite had improved. We drifted across the flat by blue crick and finally located some walleyes hanging on the upriver side right at the drop off into the river channel. They were hanging in 45-55' of water. We jigged up another 9 and had quite a few swings and misses as well. No real size but good enough to eat. The best color all day was a red jig head with a Gulp gobi in green with a red belly. Black jig and junebug also caught a few fish. The best bite of the day started at 1530 or right before we were ready to leave. Unlike most years it appears they are temporarily refilling Roosevelt instead of lowering it. Should make the fishing interesting for the next month.
