Looked at the weather forecast at 5 am. report was good so off to McNary dam with boat in tow I go.Launched off the Oregon side above the dam about 8:30.Red herringbone mag wiggle wart greased up with smelly jelly crawdaddy is my choice about 70 ft longlined behind boat at 1.1-1.7 mph.I usually mostly fish closer to the oregon side since majority of fish pass the ladder on that side.About 10:30 lose first fish about halfway between the loading dock and the parking lot.Boat passes by me right afterwards and bam he hits a fish.Looks like a nice mid teens b run hatchery.About 1 pm I get another whack that doesnt result in a hook up.Keep trolling along still same area, and right at about 4 pm rod buries hard, set hook fish shakes his head and comes unbuttoned.Plugs still got action so back in the rod holder it goes.Call my girlfriend for some comfort from my frustration, after hanging up the phone 5 minutes later rod buries again right in front of the grain silos, and starts ripping line like a salmon. After about a 10-15 minute fightI manage to net my fish.I gave this a 4 star because it was a 36 inch 15 lb bonker steelhead. So ends my wild fish streak that I thought would never end.
