Went fishing today with "The Islander", launched at Lincoln around 0830 and motored down to Hawk Creek and set up trolling rippin minnows and flys. Fished them on sidewinders and longlined behind the boat. Caught a total of 5 fish, all 2-3 lbs. 4 caught on the rippin minnows. Was nice to catch some scrappy fish for a change. All fought real good and came out of the water several times. Water temp 42* and air temp was a cold 25* most of the day. We stopped for a bit and tried to catch walleye or burbots with no success. Saw one boat speed into Hawk creek by the buoys and fished for 20 minutes or so and did not see them catch anything. Most of our fish were caught on the south shore from the launch to entrance of Hawk. There be some fish out there.....
1st fish was released until the "Islander" informed me he wanted to smoke some up later....
