On the water from Fort Spokane about 0830. Fished 4 different bays on each side of split rock. Picked up 4 fish close to the beach in about 12 feet of water on a small 3/16 ounce swim tail tipped with half a worm. Three of them came off the same rock, and one came out of the grass. Moved to Hawk Creek around 11 am. Fished near the narrow straight and picked up 4 more bows. Two on a drop shot, and two on a 3.5 inch Owner wounded minnow with a 1/4 ounce darter head. Fish were at 20 or so feet. Biggest bow of the day was 22 inches and made five short runs before he tuckered out. Water temp. was 46 degrees. Off the water at 3pm. Slow, Slow, Slow. Only trailer in the parking lot pretty much sums it up. All the fish were empty or full of snails.

Glad to hear you caught some fish. Was tempted to hit Split Rock last time out, but went the other direction. I may be the only one, but with the catching a little slow it does give us more time to enjoy the scenery, wildlife, and being on the water. Limits in an hour was fun, but abnormal. At least the fish are nicer this year, all were 2lbs plus on our last outing. Thanks for your report! :-)

For sure. The scenery is wonderful. Thats what keeps me coming back, beautiful place to escape to for a day. Have you or anyone else fished Spring Canyon lately? Curious if the catching is any better in that neck of the woods.
