We spent 5 days at the Cabin By The River camp spot and had an aswesome time. We fished 4 days, caught fish each of those days, and some were very nice. The pictures are of our best fish for the outing, mine was a 7lb, 7oz triploid and Debbie's was 5lbs, 1oz.

We caught all our fish trolling with a pair of leaded line outfits and a pair of mono outfits. We longlined J7 Rapala's one in Perch and one in Rainbow Trout at 225' back. The rainbow pattern was the hot plug and caught all the big fish, while the perch pattern didn't catch any. Eventually, I switched out the perch Rapala for a Rip'n Minnow in the closest pattern I had that matched the rinabow pattern on the J7. Debbie nailed a 4lb, 15oz trip on it yesterday.

We caught a few on muddler minnows on the leaded line out 155', but no real big ones except for one that broke off. From the way it was stripping line, I'm sure it was at least a 5 or 6 pounder. Debbie confessed she tightended the drag because she wasn't gaining any ground and that cost her a nice fish. Lesson learned. ;-)

Water surface temps ranged from 68° - 69° the whole time, and we had just about every kind of weather you could expect short of snow. Winds, whitecaps, flat calm, light breeze, rain, cool, hot (91° on Saturday).

Two years ago, Debbie caught a 6lb, 6oz trip on my birthday, and I nailed a 5lb, 8oz trip on her birthday (Sunday) for the biggest trip of the day.

The brine bucket is almost full so I'll have to run two batches through the smoker to get them all done! I have never bothered with belly meat before, but the belly strips were almost 3/4" thick so they went in the brine too!

What a great place to spend your vacation! :-)

Great photos, great report. Trolling plugs is one of the ways I used to catch big trout on, we have been trying to get back there after one unsucessful trip, but it's a long way from the olympic penninsula. It sounds like you are getting pretty dialed in on that fishery, are the j7 plugs floaters? @Bob R - I think so but don't know for sure.

@Lundegard - It was good to be back on the water, and RW was a good place to go. BD greeting passed to Debbie!
