Headed down to Bonneville to try and catch some shad. Shad are full of bones and almost not worth eating, but last year I caught 35 in one day so fun is fun. Plus i have been itching to try out my new st. croix ultralight. My brother and I got to the river around 7:30am and fished until 2:00pm. I immediately regreted not bringing any salmon gear as the people next to us were pulling in kings every 10 min plunking =(. The shad fish was decent, with me and my brother pulling one in every 20min or so. Mostley males and a few big females. We kept about 8 and released the rest. Big fish of the day was a large pike minnow which I should have turned in for the bounty instead of trying to filet it ha. The shad run should be getting in full swing here pretty quick maybe if I make it down there again i'll get my 35 fish day. But I would personaly rather catch salmon or crappie so maybe ill break the floatube out in a local pond.
Good luck out there!
