Roosevelt is impossible. We got to Spring Canyon at 6 a.m, with intentions of heading towards Keller to slay some walleye. Got everything ready, and headed down the ramp. The bottom leg of the ramp is barricaded off. About 6" of concrete is under water, and you can see the end of it. About 15' beyond that, you can see the bottom drop into the abyss. There were no closure signs, no warning, no postings on the web, etc. And we had already paid our launch fee! Shame on us I suppose, but since you can't see the barricades from the launch fee registration site.......Lake level was 1220. Most web sites say Spring Canyon is good to launch until 1222, and it is the lowest on the lake. Which means no one can launch a boat. The USBR indicates a forecast of 1217 within the next week, so who knows. I wonder if you can "launch at your own risk". I've checked web sites for NOAA, USBR, USGS, and National Park Service. Anybody have any word on this?

I'm pretty sure that Spring Canyon is the last ramp you can use when the water level reaches 1220'. Any lower and I think you are outta luck until they put the plug back in the tub. I've been watching it closely because it is my favorite lake. There is a website that shows historic graphs as to how low they drop it based on snow pack. Sorry I don't have the link but I think I typed in "When do they start refilling Lake Roosevelt? on google search. Shows that they usually start refilling on or about May 1st.

Sorry to hear that Lund, as you know, Roosevelt is one of my most favorite places to fish as well. I knew water levels were below advertised low water use at Spring Canyon, but surprised to hear the launch was barricaded. Here's a great link to current lake elevations, always reported for the day prior ending at midnight - http://www.nps.gov/laro/planyourvisit/boating.htm. Just click on "current lake elevation" and it will open a spreadsheet with the data. Shows 1220' as of midnight last night. Guess we'll all have to get our fish fix elsewhere until the spring thaw starts filling it back up. :-(
