We left spokane, the five of us, to celebrate my nephews 16th b-day. 3 brother in laws, and two nephews went down to the net pens at 7 bays. we got there at 6:45. Walked in and the five of us set up on the shore at the pens. We were all 5 using different bait all day. I stuck with power bait off of a 30" leader. Color was orange. I got 3 hits off of that and 1 that got to shore, but got off at the shore. I did get a nice 18-20" hatchery rainbow off of a 3" power minnow in yellow green color. This was a nice 3-4 lb. trout, but color was turning, so it had the bright red stripe with the orange body on the underside. the meat was not the bright pink that most roosevelt trout are, it was kind of a loon lake orange. It will go well in the smoker. big fillets.

My nephew, on his b-day fishing trip caught 3 rainbows, 15-17 inchers, off of worms and mallows off of the bottom. Because he was fishing worms, he also picke up a nice 17-18 inch walleye. Nice looking fish. My other nephew picked up a 15 inch rb off of the bottom as well.

One brother in law got two using pink powerbait power worms. 4". The other brother in law didn't catch any, but did make good company.

There were four boats that came in to the net pens during our stay, and I saw two of them catch walleye and rainbow. Overall, the bight was o.k. today, but was happy that we got 7 fish between the five of us and 3 hook ups that got away. Nephew was the angler of the day, and that's how it should have been.

Can't think of a better way to spend a B-Day! Good on you all for getting out there, wetting some lines, and bringing home some nice fish. We had talked about going but decided to stay home instead. I spent half the day organizing our tackle bags - no more "I know I have one but can't find it" syndrome!

Thanks for the report! :-)

Good day to stay off of the lake. It was windier than a witches t.t. out there today. There were white caps out in the main body of water. We were somewhat protected in the bay, but it does wear on you with the wind at you all day. I don't know how, but I rated this trip as a three and we were fishing for trout. Any day on the lake is better than day off at home.

Yeah, I noticed the species thing, Piqued my interest as I didn't know their were shad in Roosevelt. Just figured it was a mis-key. Still, a nice report!
