It was that time of year again so me, my brother, and dad, all headed out to the shore at seven bays with worms and marshmallows. Started fishing at about 11 and it took about a half hour for the bite to start but by 11:45 I had three casts that had fish on before I could reel in the slack. Got 4 fish quickly and it took a while for the 5th. Had probably 10 solid bites while there before leaving at 3:30.
Brother also limited, Dad somehow got skunked... Wrong place, wrong time?
Oh yeah, smallest was 14" biggest was 21" Most were around 16"
Simple slip-weight and a 2 ft. leader. One of the fish just about took my pole into the water before I could get to it.

Always a blast fishing Roosevelt in the Winter! Glad you had a great time and thanks for the report. One day out on Sprague my brother and dad ran into the same problem. Then I started baiting my dad's hook (like I would do for a kid I joked him), he started catching fish. Found out he took a shower that morning and used soap. Me being the lazy bum I am hadn't showered, that's the only thing we could come up with that was different. We all caught fish once we started doing that. And don't worry guys, if you see me around town chances are that I have showered. At the boat ramp, different story. : )

The magic Roosevelt bait. Mallow and worm on two feet of leader. A trout cocktail. Nice report.

dbrowning makes a good point, scent control. I never, ever, touch gear going into the water before I spray my hands liberally with the same scent I use on my gear. Works great for me. :-)

Yeah, scent control. That's exactly what I figured it was. I did have a couple of good strikes and lost some bait, but none on shore. We all still had a great time!
