We left the Army Corp Launch about 7:30 and made the 45 minute run to the lower pens to get some triploids. Things kind of went in fits and starts. We finally bagged it with 9 fish in the boat at about 11:45. We were just slip sinkering power bait just below the lower pens. Rob Phillips of Yakima Bait Co. and his son Kyle came with Andy, Mark and me. We split the day between Rufus and fishing Lake Pateros for Steelhead. We dropped down to Pateros and spent about 2 more hours jig and bobbering for metalheads. See my steelhead report. The biggest fish was 4.5 pounds. Since we were fishing bait we had to retain a couple of little 15" fin clipped Spokane strain rainbows. Talked with the checker at the ramp. He advised there would be 4,000 fish per month released each month from now until June. With our cabin heat it was a very comfortable day with temps above freezing and little to no wind.

Anton, when you refer to the fin clipped Spokane strain, are these fish that are washed down from Roosevelt? Thanks Andy

Yes. The 7 Bays pen raised fish. We hadn't seen any come down in a long while. They are skinnier, adipose clipped bows. Anton

Anton, have they been releasing from the lower pens or the middle ones? It seems in the past it has been the middle ones, but from the posts it seems now it is the lower ones.
