5.1 lb Kokanee

Well, we have a bit of a competition so to speak for fish caught on the lake. We have "records" for the given species. This weekend I was unable to make the trip from the westside because of my son's first Bday and Father's Day. Anyways on to the important stuff, such as catching fish. After our Memorial Day trip and the fishing that weekend (3 koks over 4lbs), I knew the next couple of months were going to be real promising for Kokanee. Sure enough I received a call this evening and my brother who I would consider a "rookie" now owns the Kokanee record (besting my 4.5 and my dads claim but no proof of 5+). He landed a 5.1 lb today off the downrigger east of Spring Canyon (flasher and spinner I assume). I am not saying the state record will go this year, but I do believe there could be some 6 pounders taken this summer. When I get the pics I will post them on my blog and tell some stories about the record walleye, rainbow, smallmouth, and the new kokanee record as well as the fish we hook but never see! I call my brother a rookie only because he doesn't get over as much...but he has bragging rights until I get back in July.
