went to Roosevelt , to try out, to us a new boat, the lake was so low that we could not even launch at the dam, spring creek was the same. So we headed for Bridge Port to try R W , got there and tried to get a camp site, but all the pull thrus were taken by people with tents, several open sites but I am over 50 ft long with the boat, so we went to spend the night up in the overflow area above the parking lot, where we have spent a lot of nights. Guess what new ranger in charge will not let any more overnights in the overflow area, we were told to go to town and use the public camp ground.................... what the h???. we did fish but new used boat, alumaweld 17 ft stryker, just has some bugs to be worked out............anyway great weather and nice time sleeping in............. any way in 2 weeks we are off to alaska for 3 months of camping and fishing. just going to enjoy everthing, first time up...............see you when we get back................keith

Sorry to hear of the tough luck on launching and camping Keith. Here a couple useful links for Roosevelt, first is a link to Corps of Engineers spreadsheet showing water levels at Roosevelt http://www.nwd-wc.usace.army.mil/ftppub/project_data/daily/gcl.txt and the second is a link to the National Park Service website minimum safe water levels for launches at Roosevelt http://www.nps.gov/laro/planyourvisit/boating.htm#CP_JUMP_61961. Armed with these, you'll always know which launches are safe to use for any given lake level.

Have a great time in Alaska!

thanks for the info, we just never even thought to ck water leval. With us its always been just put and shoot. We just got the boat tuesday and were in a hurry to try it out, we have always stayed in the overflo area at R Woods, I just didnt like the thought of leaving my boat up there while we were camping down it the park.......................dont think I will have a problem camping or fishing in Alaska, just bought a small 10ft portaboat just in case,......... thanks again
