Last day at Roosevelt, so we headed back up to San Poil and continued fishing with the same setups that worked the day before. Only change today was I ran the long line rigs out to 225'. Fishing was slower today, but my wife and I each put one in the boat within 30 minutes of starting to fish. We had a dry spell for the next half hour, and my wife had one hit her leaded line outfit twice but got off both times. It was raining pretty good today, and there wasn't much wind chop, but we couldn't seem to entice anymore fish to bite until about a half hour before we planned to leave (11:30am). Just as I made the last turn, a large fish hit my wife's long line setup with the perch pattern Rip'n Minnow. It stripped an additional 100' of line before she could get the rod out of the holder. I quickly reeled in the other rigs and waited while she fought this one to the boat. A quick scoop of the net and she was rewarded with the biggest fish for the 3-day outing, a 3lb 1oz tagged rainbow! I guess it was appropriate being it was Valentine's Day. We fished another 30 minutes and then headed back to Seven Bays to load up for the trip home. A great 3-day weekend even though we didn't limit out. Plenty of trout for the smoker though! :-)
