Launched at Fort Spokane with all intentions of hooking a few walleyes. After jigging in the rain for about an hour and a half, we decided to drag a couple of lures around to see if we could find some trout. The Drum Dog, he's the giy in camo hiding from the fish, lands a nice 15 1/2" trout or silver or whatever it was. It must have been a girl fish. It hit a pink and silver qwik fish. About a half hour and a little motor trouble later, I boated the much larger 16" fish you see in the other photo. This one was caught on an orange and gold floating rapala. Both fish were caught trolling without downriggers. We fished about 150' behind the boat with spinning rods. These were the only two fish of the day. Things were a little slow and wet from the rain so we decided to call it a day. When we got back to the launch I figured, what the heck, I'm already wet, so when I went to step from the front of my new boat, I lost my balance, ran down the edge of the dock and managed to fall head first into the 38 degree water. That will always make for in interesting ride home. I would suggest waiting a couple of months before trying this. Unless of course you are already a member of the Polar Bear Club. "Happy Fishing"

Thanks for the report...those are nice native rainbows. Your dunk story reminded me of a similar experience I had at Baker Lk...brrrrr!

Couple of nice 'bows, but have to disagree with Mav, both of them have clipped adipose fins, so they're hatchery trout. ;-) Doesn't matter, though, they're fine eating. :-)

Wow, a dunk in the cold water would make for a long ride home. At least it happened while loading up to go home instead of heading out for a day's fishing!

I'm heading up there for walleye tomorrow. Have you heard anyone having any luck yet? I'll post my results after I've tested the waters.

spinnerbait89 ....I will also be there tomorrow chasing Walleye. They have been hit and miss but always nice to be out there. Aj's Dad: Wow, new boat...did it come with a diving board? It is good to ear from you and cant wait to see the big Pike you catch in a few months.

spinnerbait89, we saw one baot catch a small walleye. They said it was their second of the day. It looked shorter that the legal 16" limit but they put it in the cooler anyway. When we were at the launch we saw a dozen nice sized walleye carcuses in the water. It looked like someone had a good day before we got there. They weren't picked apart so I'm guessing they were caught the day before or so. Probably on a nice sunny day. Unlike the day we had. scottpratt, I to am looking forward to those pike you are talking about. Maybe we will be able to hook up this year. I look forward to hearing your Long Lake reports. I plan to get in on that action as soon as it starts. It usually comes a little before I start getting the pike in the spring. I would love to find some of those spriongtime Long Lake Crappie slabs. Keep us posted on that action. "Happy fishing"

Thanks for the info guys. I caught one 20 incher and that was all. Guess I'll just have to keep putting my time in and figure out where they're hiding those big ones! Good luck out there!
