My son Paul and I fished Panther Sunday May 31st. We hit the water
about 10:30 AM. Being the first time on this lake, we trolled in a
complete circle and then criss crossed the lake a few times. Son Paul
landed one 11 incher during this process on a wedding ring tipped with a
night crawler. We then anchored almost dead center of the lake and
tried bottom fishing with Worms, Eggs and Power Bait We caught fish on
everything! They seemed to hit Power Bait faster and more consistantly,
however, even eggs were productive if we were patient. Most fish were
in the 9 to 10 inch range. Biggest fish boated was about 14" and
several BIG fish showed up on the finder. This lake is quite shallow
and the 3 or 4 ski boats cause some pretty good swells. The good news
was that the fishing actually seemed to pick up as the water was roiled
up! All in all it was a good outing and I would recommend the lake to
any Kitsapites wanting some pretty good fishing close to home.
