Started fishing just a bit North of split rock around 9am. Trolled minnows on top and had two limits in an hour and a half. Today my Lucky Craft pointers produced better than the partners Rip N Minnows and Xraps. Still all net pen fish between 15 and 18 inches. I want to give it a 5, but also want to find some bigger fish. I can't recall any past years when we did not catch fish in the 20 - 25 inch range. We spent two more hours jigging for walleye in the arm. I only hooked up with one small fish, but lost her at the boat. Surface water temp dropped 3-4 degrees from our last trip. It was around 54 degrees. All of the fish we have been cleaning have small snails in their stomachs. I'm getting ready to take them out of the smoker as we speak. I like to smoke them for 13 - 14 hours untill their like jerky. Good luck out there. We will be back at it next week. My 5 year old daughter eats the fish like it's candy!

Mercury, Ha! You get more mercury in one flu shot than you do in a lifetime of eating fish... Eat fish ~ Live Long!

Nice fish, still. For the walleye, if you want to make a little run down river, try up around the mouth of Hawk Creek for the walleye this time of year - points off of flats in 30-60 ft are where we've found them this time last year. Crawdads were in their bellies...

As far as the mercury thing, in the interest of not continuing to spread false information about the mercury content in flu vaccines:
http://www.cdc.gov/Flu/about/qa/thimerosal.htm

So it is true that mercury is in the flu shots. But, to put it in perspective, according to the EPA, a 6oz can of tuna contains an average of 20.4 mcg (micrograms) of mercury. An adult dose flu shot as manufactured by the ONLY manufacturer this year (Aventis Pasteur) contains 25 mcg.

The shots can be said to be much safer than eating two cans of tuna... but, c'mon, I used to play with the little blob of mercury from a broken thermometer when I was a kid. Aren't we getting a little hyper-sensitive to these supposed health threats now-a-days? I say eat fish, get your flu shot, and get on with life. No flu = more fishin'!
