The old man and I made our 3rd trip to Roosevelt in the past 2 weeks. We put in at Porcupine Bay around 7:30am. We pulled everything in our boxes around different sections of the arm for a few hours and caught nothing. We decided to travel to split rock where we had one strike, and that was it. It was now 1pm and we thought we might get skunked. We headed back towards the fort spokane launch and started trolling the South shoreline, about a half mile East of the fort spokane launch. All of the sudden it was bang bang bang, one right after another. Caught two limits in 45 minutes on perch pattern Rapala X raps. All of the strikes came on the turn when the baits were slowing down or speeding up. All of the bows were 16-17 inches with the exception of one that went 21 inches. Trout are such unpredictable critters. If someone has it figured out please let me know. We pulled our baits through piles of fish with no bites, and when we were marking nothing it was on like donkey kong. Right time, place, and presentation I guess. Just when you think you have something figured out - you don't. Just keep putting in your time!
