Aaron and I finished off our day with an evening guide trip with Justin of FarNorth Charters (509-684-6870). The morning rain was finished and the wind was dying down. Justin ran us to the farthest point you can fish on the Columbia river without going into Canada. We worked a hole there with dry flies - caddis and - darn - can't remember! (I'm not a dry fly guy). Anyway, this whole was pretty good for me. I caught two nice 16-18" rainbows, beautiful fish and great fighters. I missed another hit. I'd forgotten how much fun it is to catch a fish on a dry fly! Aaron didn't have as good luck, so we moved downstream and hit a couple more spots.

As twilight descended on us I got to witness an amazing sight which is a daily occurrence up here - a massive caddis fly hatch. And with it rainbows crashing and slurping bugs everywhere! Justin maneuvered us into the hatch and fish and I hooked a freight train of a fish that broke me off as quickly as it hit my fly. Justin caught a nice fish for fun, and Aaron ended the day for us catching another beauty in total darkness, by feel. Way cool!

I highly encourage you to check out Justin if you have ANY interest in this fishery. It is unlike anything I've ever seen and I promise you'll have a great time. And we fished on an "off" day because of the weather front.
