Sunny for the most part, slight SW wind. Fished Hawk Creek. Why kind of fish is the lower one in the picture? I took another picture of the mouth which is black, and thinner than the rainbow trout.

What was up to same level that is was two weeks ago. Lots of other fisherman on the lake that didn't do so well.

Looks to me like a Chinook! was its tunge black also. I have caught a few in there mostly below Little Falls. Late summer you see the adults jumping in there trying to get back to there spawning grounds up above Lake CDA and I hear some are spawning up the Little Spokane River out of Long Lake.

From the pointy jaw I would say you have a Sockeye(aka Kokanee)Which there are quite a few in the lower end of the lake. When I first caught these i also thought they were blackmouth.Chinook salmon spawn later than Sockeye so I would think if it were a Chinook it would be alot brighter fish.I could be wrong though

It is a Chinook, There seem to be quite a few of them being caught at this time. They are not that good to keep as the flesh is white and do not taste that great. We have been releasing quite a few of them.

The flesh is actually red not white. So Chinook it is!
