With ten fisherman in camp the pressure was on for a four day fishing adventure. Our friends from Montana joined us at our property on Lake Roosevelt. For four days we split up and fished Rufus Woods (read my report on Rufus Woods also) and Lake Roosevelt out of the boat and pontoon boats. The boys from Montana worked the pontoon boats on the Roosevelt the first day and had success fishing real close to shore with sinking fly line and wooley worms and buggers. Generally this time of year the rainbow fishing is real good close to shore as they move into their spawning grounds.

As for me and Ron we were in search of the Giant Kokanee. To our dismay we were unable to catch one. That said we did hear of a few boats landing one here and one there. Also Dave at Coulee Playland said a guy boated 3 up near the Sanpoil. We searched high and low for them but were unable to locate them. We did however get into some nice rainbows catching 10 plus in any given morning or evening outing. At first the pontoon boats were outfishing the boat about 20-2 for 18-22inch bows. Usually the fish are 3 - 5 pounds but this weekend they were all 2-4 pounds but I better not complain. The second day Ron and I jumped into the pontoons to enjoy some fly fishing. We were able to catch about 10 bows in less than two hours in one cove. I have some great footage of these fish I am in the process of editing. In 3 days of fishing on the lake we caught well over 50 fish! Most were released and the ones we kept will go into our secret dip after they are smoked...

Check out my blog (Gonzipheris) as I will be posting a more in-depth story with all the pictures plus the video footage of us landing some really nice fish here in the next couple of days.
