Arrived at the lake with a very brisk wind coming down the lake so decided to use a sinking line and troll a Carey Special. Once near the upper end of the lake (east end), I started a wind drift back towards the launch. This tactic worked very well for me last year however for the next 2 hours this tactic came up empty. I tried changing fly colors and sizes to no avail. Eventually about 2 PM I changed to a Egg-sucking Leech and immediately hooked up with a 16 inch Bow. Casting back into the water, within seconds had another strike and brought in a 17 1/2 inch Bow. Things slowed down a bit and for the next 4 hours wind drifting and trolling, took 4 other Bows the largest being 18 inches. My fish finder showed almost all the fish hugging the bottom and in the brisk breeze staying down was a chore. Nearing 7 PM, almost all action quit and the number of fish seen on the fish finder went almost to NIL so decided to call it quits.
