The goal Saturday was to first try for koks and bows and then go after the walleye. We did not have any luck with the koks but were able to land one nice bow (2lbs). We fished Swallila Bay and some of the shoreline east of Spring Canyon. The fish were really spread out and some were raising. We then went after the walleyes and were able to land 3. Usually this time of year is great for all three species but given what they have been doing to the dam the last couple of years the fishing has really suffered.
After trying out Banks with no luck on Sunday morning (one local said he caught 5 walleye in 5 days and said the weather just turned off the fishing after a couple of systems went through) we went back to Roosevelt. We were able to boat 1 walleye and 1 rainbow (2lbs).
All in all we had quite a few bites over the weekend and lost several nice ones. It definitely was not the best fishing in terms of what the lake generally produces...chalk it up to lowering the dam. We will be back for a week over the fourth and I expect great fishing but also know we will probably have to work for them again.
Monday we went to Rufus and caught some nice, the biggest being 5 lbs (rainbows) while my dad lost several bigger!
