I was really trying to hold off on doing any trout fishing until the water warms a bit. But, the itch became to great, and I enjoy the outing to much. Launched at Spring Canyon in the morning. I'm not sure why, perhaps should have just continued to Rufus, however Rufus reports have been poor.
The water temp was a whopping three degrees above freezing. The morning started off kind of strange. My fishing buddy hooks up, and fights the fish for a short while before it gets off. When he brought his lure in one of the points on his treble hook was bent outward. Not five minutes later I hook up and feel the fish come off about half way to the boat. I get the bait and see the rear treble hook is gone. It came off the split ring, a first for me.
We ended up getting three more strikes all day, but I think the fish were just slapping at it, or getting a little to close. No fish, but still a great day because I did not have to work.
