I had the best day of fishing I could have ever asked for.

I went to a small creek that I haven't been to in years that normally offers a day of 50+ little bows and cutts. This time on my way up I was noticing the road was a little rougher and the trail had definitely seen a lot less use. When go to the slide where I cut down to the river it was so over grown it was a 100 % blind bush whack down to the river. as we were making our way down I was telling my buddy I bet I was the last guy here 6 years ago. we got the creek and the flow, clarity, sun on the water everything was perfect. I couldn’t wait to fish for some cutts on fresh water. shortly after making our way down steam we got the "hole" I instantly lock my eyes on to a school of 6-8 big fish (I had no clue what they were, I was thinking possibly steelhead). it I couldn’t believe my eyes. I tried everything I had in box to get a strike but I wasn’t able to pull even a look. out of desperation and the "F" it what do I have to lose I threw on a huge weighted silver streamer on my 3lb flouro line I was just lobbing this thing in the pole hoping for the best.

BOOM! the second I starting bring in the fly one of mid-size fish slammed my fly, after a very good fight, me yelling at my buddy is disbelief I actually hooked on the fish I got it to the shore and to my amazement it was a dolly! (a fish that has always eluded me) the fish took the WHOLE fly in its mouth, after some very careful surgery and about 5 minutes of holding the fish in the water is swam off and fell back in line with the others. We left after that I didn't to stress the fish especially that they had to be spawning, and had no fear of people.

I can’t wait to be back to my re-revived favorite creek.

***AS for all the people wondering about regulations, Dollys are not listed at all on any site or reg book for this stream, i was using my normal barbless fly gear. and the fish was released without harm***
