I live in a community that shares a private lake with 2 other communities. We had our annual fishing derby this past Saturday and what a blast! The 3 communities all chip in and stock with rainbows mainly, but there are some browns and cutts as well. We only caught bows, but the action was fast and furious! We found a hole that nobody else was fishing and that's where the hawgs were hiding. We told other boats to come over and even told them the setup we were using, but they would sit for 10-15 mins and not get anything and then go back to trolling. Oh well.

It was fish after fish for almost all day. Once the weather heated up, they dove deeper and we were burnt out at that point so we called it a day. My buddy landed over 30 I believe. He kept a couple of the bigger ones. His biggest was over 3 lbs.

I didn't count mine, but was just a bit behind him in quantity of fish caught, but I landed some pigs! My biggest (in pic) was 5 lbs 14 oz and just shy of 22 inches long. I was in first place with about an hour to go, and then some young lady turned in a 7 pounder! Oh well, I can't complain. After the dismal steelhead season I had, this was a shot of new life to get me going again. It was an epic day to say the least. I'll be back out there as much as I can be until the weather warms up to the point where they all dive deep. Feels good to catch fish again...I don't care if it's stocked fish or not right now. LOL

I'll admit, I pretended the big ones were steel when I was reeling them in. They sure do look like steel! Ha!!!
